Oligosaccharide, also known as xylo-oligosaccharide, is a functional polymeric sugar consisting of 2-7 xylose molecules bonded by β-1,4 glycosidic bonds. It has a unique advantage over soybean oligosaccharide, oligofructose and oligoisomaltose that are usually used by people, and it can selectively promote the proliferation activity of bifidobacteria in the intestine. Its bifurcation factor function is 10-20 times higher than other polymeric sugars.



3.1 Oligosaccharides are difficult to be broken down by human digestive enzymes.
Digestion experiments with saliva, gastric juice, pancreatic juice and small intestine enzyme liquid show that: all kinds of digestive juices can hardly decompose oligosaccharide, and its energy value is almost zero, which neither affects blood sugar concentration nor increases level in blood sugar, and does not form fat deposits, so it can play a role in low-energy food, which maximally meets the requirements of those who love dessert but are worried about diabetes and obesity, so Diabetic patients, obese patients and hypoglycemic patients can safely eat.

3.2 Good acid and thermal stability, difficult to ferment, compared with other oligosaccharides, the outstanding feature of oligosaccharide is very good stability. Even under acidic conditions (PH=2.5-7), it basically does not decompose when heated to 100ºC, while some functional oligosaccharides are easily decomposed under acidic conditions, thus its activity of promoting the proliferation of bifidobacteria is reduced.
