2.ProductDescription:
Water-soluble star anise white powder extract shikimic acid

Shikimic acid is a monomer compound extracted from star anise, is the major intermediate for antiviral drug. Elliptic entire leaves simple, lanceolate, leathery, short petiolate, 6 -- 12 cm long, 2 -- 5 cm wide, transparent oil spots visible on upper surface. They bloom in spring and autumn. Flowers solitary in leaf axils. There are three yellowish-green sepals; 6-9 pieces of quilt, pink to deep red. Results from autumn to the following spring. The aggregate fruit is stellate octagonal, 1-2 cm long, 3-5 cm wide and <1 cm tall.  It changes from green to yellow when ripe. Follicles apex obtuse or obtuse, each containing a seed 6 mm long. The fruit is picked in autumn and winter and is reddish-brown or yellowish-brown when dried. The smell is fragrant and sweet.

It is usually extracted from some plants or produced through chemical synthesis or microbial fermentation. Currently, much of Star Anise Fruit Extract's supply comes from Chinese star anise or Illicium verum's seeds. The star anise tree takes about 6 years after planting to start bearing fruits.

3.Pharmacology
Shikimic acid has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. Shikimic acid can also be used as an intermediate of antiviral and anticancer drugs.

Shikimic acid is a monomer compound extracted from star anise, which has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects and is an anticancer drug intermediate. Shikimic acid inhibits platelet aggregation, venous thrombosis and cerebral thrombosis by affecting arachidonic acid metabolism. Shikimic acid has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, and can also be used as an intermediate of antiviral and anticancer drugs.

Star anise contains shikimic acid, an important component of the Asian bird flu virus.   Experts say it is the world's only weapon against bird flu. Rich in China and Vietnam, it is the fruit of a small Oriental tree of the magnolia family. It has a pungent, licorice-like flavor and is a traditional spice in Oriental cooking and a key ingredient in liqueurs such as French green anise and Liqueur. It is also used to enhance the aroma of sweets, ouzo and tobacco. Star anise has been in the spotlight for its medicinal properties before the arrival of bird flu, including its possible anti-cancer properties. Star anise has gained renewed attention as a major source of shikimic acid, a key ingredient in tamiflu, an effective drug against the deadly H5N1 bird flu virus.
