N-Acetyl-L-cysteine is an organic substance with the chemical formula C5H9NO3S, a white crystalline powder with a garlic-like odor and an acidic taste. It is hygroscopic, easily soluble in water or ethanol, insoluble in ether and chloroform. It is acidic in aqueous solution (pH2-2.75 in 10g/L H2O), mp101-107ºC.
It is N-acetylated derivative of cysteine, which contains sulfhydryl group in the molecule, which can break the disulfide bond (-S-S-) of mucin peptide bond, thus turning the mucin chain into small molecule peptide chain and reducing the viscosity of mucin.

Conclusion: This product complies with AJI92 standard. |
N-Acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC), which exerts a strong mucolytic effect by breaking down mucin complexes, nucleic acids, and changing purulent components of sputum and other mucus and mucus secretions from viscous to thin. In addition, it exerts a direct antioxidant effect through a free sulfhydryl group (nucleophilic -SH) that interacts directly with an electrophile oxidation group.
Bioreagent, API, the sulfhydryl group (-SH) contained within the molecule breaks the disulfide chain (-S-S) linking the peptide chain of mucin in mucus sputum. The mucin becomes small molecules of peptide chains and reduces the stickiness of sputum; it also breaks DNA fibers in purulent sputum, so it can dissolve not only white mucous sputum but also purulent sputum.
The molecular structure of this product makes it easy to pass through the cell membrane. In the cell, the product deacetylates to form L-cysteine, an essential amino acid for the synthesis of glutathione (GSH).
Used in biochemical studies and as a mucolytic drug. It is used for respiratory obstruction caused by large amounts of mucous sputum obstruction. Also used for detoxification of acetaminophen poisoning.
In the detergent industry, it can replace sodium tripolyphosphate as an auxiliary for non-toxic detergents.
It is also used in brewing, injection solution, photographic drugs and electroplating, etc.
