Zinc pyridinate is an acid form of zinc that the body absorbs more readily than other forms of zinc. In a study designed to measure the absorption of different forms of zinc, scientists measured the amount of zinc in the hair, skin and urine of test subjects because these are the areas of the body with the highest zinc content. The study, published in the journal Agents Actions, found that test subjects absorbed zinc pyridinecarboxylate better than zinc citrate or zinc gluconate. Zinc pyridinecarboxylate may help control acne. It can also act as a general immune booster.
